Looking to increase your Instagram game but don’t know where to start? There’s no shortage of ideas on this planet, and while there are more people using the same ideas than ever before, there are still twists to make yourself stand out.
In this article I’m going to cover some of the best locations for aesthetically pleasing Instagram pictures.
If you’re wondering how everyone seems to get “the perfect shot”, yet you’re left with your 10 of your utmost best pictures that don’t even come close to what you see on Instagram, I’m here to help you out.
Why?
Because that’s what I do, I help influencers become better at what they do, increase followers, make more money, etc.
So without further ado, lets get right into it.
Why Aesthetics Work So Well on Instagram
A picture says 1000 words.
There’s a reason why social media has skyrocketed in popularity in the last decade.
Picture and video content are getting far more common, because everyone wants to be popular.
Every man and his dog creates content, literally.
Every social platform is in competition with each other to see who can get the most visitors and keep them as long as possible.
The one with the best content usually gets the most attention.
So how do you stand out when everyone’s doing the same thing as everyone else?
Well, you are unique in your own way, and no one else can ever be you.
With this knowledge you can create content that inspires you and brings out the best in you.
What do I mean? I mean you should be yourself in all your pictures/videos and not try to be someone you’re not.
Here are some of the best locations for aesthetic Instagram pictures.
7 Best Aesthetic Locations for Instagram Posts
1. In front of a mountain
There aren’t mountains everywhere, and most of the time you have to travel far and wide to visit a mountain.
Plus they look incredible in pictures.
Using one as a backdrop shows that you’re well-traveled, adventurous, and love nature.
Tag the mountain name and reap the rewards of extra exposure when others check out the same location tag.
2. At the beach
Beaches aren’t as special (unless you can get to the Maldives or something), but they do make for an aesthetically pleasing Instagram picture.
The best times to take pictures is a sunrise or sunset.
Those golden hour beach pics hit different. I highly recommend paying a professional photographer if you want the absolute best shots.
However, increase the aesthetics of your pictures even more with a tropical beach vibe.
3. In front of a waterfall
Waterfalls, another aesthetically pleasing picture idea.
This shows that you love nature and travelling. You’ll attract followers that are into the same things as you.
You can either sit down on a rock, stand up for a pose, or splash around in the water if you’re up for it.
All ideas work incredibly well.
4. On a boat
One of my favorite Instagram picture ideas is on a yacht or boat.
If you can land yourself a boat party, even better.
Again, this shows your hobbies, interests, and passionate about getting out and doing more stuff.
This can make for a great photo opportunity, especially when you pose with other people.
5. Popular tourist destinations
There’s a reason why Instagrammers travel 24+ hours to get that perfect shot.
Because they believe the pictures are an investment opportunity.
Top influencers don’t just go for “the” picture, they go for the sponsored posts, free hotel stays, and the travel experience.
However, if you’re not fortunate enough to get a basically free overseas trip just yet, you can search up some of the best spots in your area and check those out instead.
6. Anything with a cool backdrop
The cool thing about Instagram is that you can post whatever you like.
You just have to be creative.
Some of the best pictures have come from the most basic backdrops.
They’ve just added a twist to make it look aesthetically pleasing, and that’s something you can do with your own Instagram pictures.
But I’ll talk more about that shortly.
7. Fit check
Showing off your outfit has become the cool thing to do.
A fit check can be done literally anywhere, but even better if you can get a cool backdrop.
Showing off your outfit shows that you to take care of yourself and you’re in-the-know when it comes to fashion.
You can dedicate an entire Instagram page showing off your daily outfit!

6 Additional Tips for the Best Instagram Pictures
Use Carousels With All Your Picture Posts
Carousels have a much higher engagement rate than normal pictures.
Just take a look at some of the top Instagram influencers, they post carousels every time.
There’s a reason for this, because they get more engagement!
Hire a professional photographer
This is going to take some investment, but it’s an investment well worth it…especially if you want to take your Instagram page more seriously (which I bet is a no-brainer if you landed on this article).
A professional photographer can take your pictures from a 5 to a 10.
They’ll get the right angles, best lighting, best backgrounds, best poses, etc.
It’s an investment worth every penny if you ask me.
Add a location tag
Adding a location tag is a super simple technique to increase your exposure, likes and follower-count.
However, be more specific in your location practices, as something like “New York” is going to be too saturated and your post will get pushed down the rankings.
Therefore you should tag your location specifically (i.e restaurant, park, gym).
Add hashtags
Another super simple way to increase exposure and get free likes is to add hashtags to your posts.
However, to avoid getting pushed down the rankings too quickly, you should use those with less than 100,000 tags.
Take lots of pictures
The perfect picture didn’t come first pop.
The perfect picture came after 50 pictures were taken.
That’s the reality of being an Instagram influencer. You need to take many pictures in order to get the perfect shot.
Use a tripod
A tripod will become your new best friend in your Instagram career.
Most people don’t want to stand there taking 50 pictures for you, and no ones with you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Sometimes you have to whip out the ol’ tripod to snap the pictures for you.
Then you can sift through them later to find the best one.
You Don’t Need to Travel the World for the Best Picture
One thing I want to drive home is that you do not need to travel halfway across the world just to get that one picture that everyone else is getting.
The top influencers do it because they’re basically going for free.
They’re in a fortunate position where they’ve worked hard enough that everyone’s fighting for a sponsored post from them.
On the other hand, those that don’t have that power yet can still get some great shots in their hometown.
The problem isn’t the location you’re in, but your posing strategy, angles, bad lighting, and downright bad quality pictures.
You can take the best location and an awkward poser, with an Iphone camera, and you will get one of the worst pictures.
Now take someone with posing experience, knows the best angles, good lighting techniques, and put them in their backyard and they’ll take the most aesthetically pleasing picture in front of a flower.
That’s the difference between a successful Instagrammer and a newbie.
Experience my friend.
That’s why you should focus on learning how to pose and getting the best angles, and you’ll make any picture look sick.
Here’s an article from haylsa.com with 9 good posing examples.
Conclusion
I can tell you all the greatest locations in the world for the best Instagram picture, but knowing is only half the battle.
It’s still up to you to get the perfect outfit, to drive to the location, and have someone take the pictures for you.
Then you have to find the best one.
As you do this, you’ll learn how to get better at posing and becoming more aesthetically pleasing with every photoshoot.
It’s just like anything in life.
Practice makes perfect.
And with that said, I hope you enjoyed this article.
