Are YouTube Courses Worth Buying Or Can You Do It On Your Own?

There are many newbie YouTubers trying to become the next sensation every single day. But most of them don’t know what they’re doing.

This isn’t a bad thing.

Even the biggest YouTubers we see today didn’t have any guidance and started with some of the worst videos ever.

However, they stuck it out for years and years to gain their success.

These days you can’t afford to fall behind because you’re in competition with more and more people everyday.

So that begs the question.

Do you need to pay for YouTube training or can you do it on your own?

The short answer to this question is:

You do not need a YouTube training program, but it will greatly speed up the learning curve so you don’t experience the same fatal mistakes as everyone else.

Most People Don’t See 1000 Subscribers Until They Hit 100 Videos

The reality is this:

The average person starting out in the YouTube game doesn’t earn their first 1000 subscribers until they hit 100 videos.

Of course there are some cases where one of your videos might go viral and speed up this process.

But for the most part, these numbers are on average.

And not many people will tell you this, but I am, so you know if you’re on the right track or not.

You might’ve put up 20 videos and wondered why you don’t even have 10 subscribers yet.

That is actually incredibly normal, especially for someone doing it on their own.

How a Training Program Can Greatly Speed Up the Learning Curve

Yes you can do it on your own.

Yes you can create a huge following in a matter of a few years.

But like I mentioned above. You don’t have time, especially when your competition is everyone else starting out on YouTube.

I talked about increasing your production as a YouTuber in a previous article.

And in that article I said that posting 100 videos as fast as possible doesn’t mean you will get 1000 subscribers faster.

YouTube is a search engine at the end of the day.

To better understand YouTube, you have to understand the algorithm.

So here’s a little breakdown of what an algorithm is.

The YouTube algorithm is a set of robots that wants to provide the best videos for viewers. That’s it.

However, there are hundreds of factors that determine what’s good enough to rank and what isn’t.

These factors include:

• How big your YouTube channel is
• Your engagement rate (how many likes, comments and shares do you get)
• How many of your subscribers watch your videos
• How old your channel is
• Are you a trustworthy content creator
• Keywords
• And many more

That’s why posting 100 videos as a brand new channel doesn’t mean you’ll start raking in the views and subscribers.

One of the biggest factors which is against you from the get-go, is time.

According to this blog post from Hubspot, on average, most people get 1000 subscribers in 22 months (almost 2 whole years).

The Key to Ranking in YouTube and Getting Subscribers

Now you know the average time span to get 1000 subscribers, how many viewers you need, what an algorithm is, etc.

It’s time to discuss how you actually rank.

So how do you do it?

You need to target keywords that are getting enough searches, but not too competitive that you won’t rank.

There are many free keyword research tools on Google.

But basically, YouTube will look at the title of your video, description, and believe it or not, they will also listen to your voice for keywords.

Then they’ll use engagement rate to see how good the video is before placing it in a ranking.

Now if you’re doing everything right like targeting low-competition keywords while creating good quality content that helps your viewers, you’ll start to rank, gain views and subscribers.

These Rules Are a Guideline and Not Set in Stone

I would like to reiterate that these rules are on average and not set in stone.

That means these numbers can be speed up to see faster growth.

With the right training and laser-targeted focus, you can definitely see success much faster than someone just winging it (which is most newbies on YouTube).

It’s not uncommon to get 100,000 subscribers within the first year, as long as you’re doing proper keyword research, knowing your audience, learning their problems, providing good solutions, and just being the go-to person in your niche.

At the end of the day you want to be the authority figure that people look up to.

The only way to do that is to immerse yourself in your niche, learn their problems, read about their daily struggles, and offer solutions.

So is a YouTube Training Program Necessary? (Conclusion)

The answer to this question is no.

You do not 100% need a training program to make it big on YouTube.

However, you’ll definitely speed up your success by at least 2x.

So instead of getting 1000 subscribers in 22 months, you can do it in 11 months.

No matter what you do on the world wide web, anything that’s worthwhile takes hard work and dedication.

The reason I’m not a fan of YouTube for making money is the time factor that’s against literally everyone.

Yes you can still make a killing after a few years, but if you’re solely in it for the money, you might want to reconsider your strategy.

I like blogging because I enjoy my freedom.

I don’t want to spend 8 hours filming, editing, finding keywords and promoting videos.

Actually I only work about 3 hours per day creating an article for my blogs which makes me money on days I don’t even post.

Blogging is also much faster at making money than creating YouTube videos.
