In 2021 I went through some massive changes. I lost 16 kgs, or 35 pounds, broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years, moved back home to New Zealand, started a new online business, switched gyms multiple times, and more.
For some of you this might be a lot, for others not so much, but one things for sure, you need to be doing stuff to advance you to the next level in this game called life.
Today I want to talk about some of the biggest lessons that 2021 taught me.
I hope you find some valuable information in this article, and if you do, please leave a comment below 🙂 Cheers.
1. You Don’t Have Time
Time flies, that’s a given.
If you’re thinking of putting things off, you’re only wasting time that you won’t get back.
We don’t get to live this moment in time ever again. Once you use time, it’s gone for good.
You need to stop wasting your time on things that don’t matter.
Sure, taking breaks is okay but if your entire day consists of one massive break, you have a problem.
You have a procrastination problem, but I like to call things for what they are and not sugarcoat it like most people, you are just lazy.
Most people are lazy because we seek comfort. But laziness makes us feel like sh*t because we’re not being productive.
At the start of 2021 I went from doing 2 things per day to better my future, to now doing 5 things.
Every…single…day.
These little acts of everyday activities pushes me closer to my goals. You don’t have to make big changes. Just chip away at them and eventually you’ll get there.
2. You Need Big Problems to Advance in Life
It’s true that everyone has problems, and the more you level up, you’re going to have even bigger problems.
Like the saying goes, mo’ money mo’ problems.
And that is true. But BIG problems is a sign that you’re doing bigger and better things in life.
Even though it sucks to have big problems, it’s a sign that you’re in the right place and you’re going in the right direction.
Most peoples problems consist of running out of milk and can’t afford any until payday, or running out of gas on their way home from work.
But when you advance in your life, your problems will include your lambo breaking down and costing thousands of dollars to get fixed.
Or your employees not pulling their weight and losing you an extra $5000 per month.
Of course these are extreme examples, but I like to exaggerate my points to get them across.
3. You Can’t Rely on One Source of Income
I’ll elaborate on this even further and say that you can’t even live off one source of income anymore, not if you’re living by yourself and want to have a half-decent lifestyle.
Inflation is through the roof and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
Creating a side income is a necessity in 2022, not optional.
As I found that out in 2020 and especially 2021, anything can happen and you don’t have time to waste scrolling for 6+ hours on Instagram and TikTok.
Millions of people earn additional income online these days, there are thousands of ways to do it.
I like blogging because it’s the best job in the world 🙂
4. You Need to Be Prepared
As mentioned above, anything can happen.
In 2022 you need to be preparing, building a business on the side of your main job, and preparing for the worst.
Basically, you need to rely on yourself and NOT your main job.
Creating many sources of income will make you bulletproof and allow you to keep living a good life with your friends and family.
Just look at what all the rich people are doing, it’s like nothing has happened in the last 2 years.
Still living lavish lifestyles, flying around in private jets, meeting up with rich friends, talking about how to make more money, etc.
And that’s what you need to do in 2022 to avoid being lockdown and relying on other people to bail you out.
You need freedom, and the only way to do that is to create your own side business. Remember, this is not optional anymore, it’s a necessity.
Gone are the days of buying a house for $40,000 and paying it off in 10 years. You don’t have time to waste and you need to make money now.
5. You Need Better Friends
I slacked a lot on my network in 2021 because I was so focused on my businesses, but I need to meet more people and befriend them.
This is because I don’t befriend everyone I come across
You have to remember that you are the top 5 people you hang out with the most, which is why I am incredibly careful who I let in my circle.
In 2020 I let go of my best friend because he was toxic, negative and wasn’t moving forward in life, just going to work, drinking himself into a coma. Rinse and repeat.
You network is your net worth. If you’re hanging out with losers, you’re going to be a loser.
If you’re hanging out with winners, you’ll inevitably become a winner.
That’s just how things are and has gone since the beginning of time.
Drop your loser friends and start networking with influential people that are going places, that way you’ll go places as well.
2021 Conclusion
Those are my 5 biggest lessons that I learned in 2021.
Overall 2021 was a great year. I learned so much about myself, especially after dropping 35 pounds and sticking to a diet consistently.
I also created a new business and it’s doing incredibly well so far (fingers crossed).
