What the heck is Wealthy Affiliate and how will it benefit your life?
I have been a member of WA since 2016 and in that time span I have made a good living from my business.
I’m not Jeff Bezos, but I am well off. I haven’t had a real job since 2017 because I make a full-time income thanks to the help of Wealthy Affiliate.
In this review I will bare all, the good and the bad about this company, and then let you decide if you want to join or not.
Lets dive right in.
About Wealthy Affiliate
Wealthy Affiliate is an affiliate training platform that teaches people how to make money online, or more specifically, from a website or blog.
They have won many awards for being the #1 best affiliate marketing training program and because of the success I have found, I am here to share my thoughts.
WA is not an MLM, cash-gifting scheme, pyramid scheme, or anything like that.
Actually they don’t promise you anything, they give you the training and encourage you to do your best.
Which is hard to say for other programs that promise the world and fail to deliver anything of value.
Who Owns Wealthy Affiliate?
The two owners are named Kyle and Carson.
Kyle & Carson
Kyle is the man behind the training videos. He really makes it fool-proof for anyone to understand.
Because of his calm manner and easy-to-follow tutorials it was easy for me to follow what he was doing and do it to my own website.
They’ve literally made it so easy that anyone can do.
However, they also have 25 employees working behind the scenes.
When Did Wealthy Affiliate Launch?
Wealthy Affiliate launched in 2005, and in 2009 they won the #1 Online Work Company, which they still hold to this day.
Back then it was way harder to get a website up and running.
Nowadays you can create a domain name, choose a theme and your website can be up in literally a couple of minutes, ALL on the Wealthy Affiliate platform.
That’s what I really like about it, they provide web hosting, domain hosting, training, and everything else to run a successful online business.
Why Did Kyle and Carson Create Wealthy Affiliate?
Actually they were making money online way before the launch of Wealthy Affiliate.
They realized that the internet was a huge place and that it was going to continue to grow.
Even though the internet might seem like a saturated place, there are millions upon millions of easy-to-rank keywords.
Everyone’s competing for the top-tier keywords that only contain about 2-3 words. We leave those for the top dogs.
Instead we chase low-competition keywords that can get traffic with a brand new website.
I’ll show you a screenshot of Broke Influencers shortly. I created this site not even one month ago and I’m already receiving traffic from Google.
How to Make Money With Wealthy Affiliate
What we’ll be using is a concept called affiliate marketing.
When you go to a car dealership and purchase a car, that salesman gets a commission for the sale.
When someone goes door knocking and sells a vacuum cleaner, they also get a commission for the sale.
Well that’s exactly how affiliate marketing works, but in the online world.
There are millions of things to sell, literally.
But I usually sell Amazon products because it’s such a reputable company, making sales is easier than other affiliate programs.
You don’t have to stick to physical products either.
There are digital items to sell such as ebooks, services, e-courses, etc.
How Commissions Work
The good thing about digital items is that the commission is way higher than physical items.
Commission rates from physical items range from 1-15%, while digital products provide commissions of 40 – 80%!
However, higher commissions isn’t always better. It might be harder to make a sale because the trust isn’t there yet.
Whereas Amazon trust is already there.
Step 1: Build a Website
The first step is to choose a domain name and build your website.
Your domain name is your brand. I’ve named this blog Broke Influencers because I help social media influencers earn more money.
You should always choose a niche for your website.
The good thing is that any niche is profitable as long as there’s a product.
Don’t worry, they teach you all about niches and domain names inside the training.
Step 2: Add Content
Most of your content will be in the form of writing, but you can also sprinkle in other types of content.
Content includes writing, videos, images, animations, music, polls, etc.
Writing isn’t hard either. I didn’t want to start because I was scared of the whole “writing” thing.
But I just write like I’m talking to a friend. That’s really what Google loves. As long as you write for the people you will be fine.
Step 3: Get Traffic
Once you’ve chosen a niche, slapped a few articles on your blog, you should start seeing traffic trickling in.
Now all websites are completely different.
My very first website didn’t start receiving consistent traffic for 5 months. Another one took 1 month.
But my last website took 9 whopping months! That’s because I was targeting competitive keywords. Thankfully now that blog is getting traffic and sales.
However, the website you’re on now is definitely one of my fastest winners.
It’s only 4 weeks old and it started getting traffic from Google within 4 days.
Check out the screenshot below.
Step 4: Bank
When you’ve got a good number of articles that’s ranking in Google you should start seeing some money trickling in.
Really it’s all a numbers game.
The more articles you have on your blog, the more money you make.
If you write 50 articles, you’ll get some traffic and income.
If you write 300 articles, expect a really good amount of money.
And if you write 1000 articles or more, you can expect high numbers. It’s common to earn $10,000 with 1000 articles or more.
I’m currently at the 4-figure per month level 😀
Does the Training Work?
Yes it really does work. Here’s one of my blogs earning money through Amazon sales. I review different types of shoes and give my opinion on them.
Affiliate marketing is such a basic concept but it requires hard work just like anything in life.
If you go into it expecting to make a million dollars a year within your first year, you’ll quickly lose motivation.
This is not a get-rich-quick scheme, it’s a legit business model.
You get out what you put in.
The more articles you write, the more keywords you’ll rank for, the more traffic you get, then the more money you make.
Once you understand that, you can shift your mindset from:
“I’m going to get rich in a couple of months” to “I’m going to start my own online business, put in the time, effort and dedication and enjoy the fruits of my labor later on”.
Proof of Earnings
Here’s a little snippet of an affiliate program I use:
Here’s a screenshot from Wealthy Affiliate commissions:
Yes Wealthy Affiliate also has an affiliate program, and it’s actually one of the best I’ve ever seen.
What I like about Wealthy Affiliate is that they have recurring monthly commissions, meaning you earn more money per customer.
With Amazon you only earn on whatever your customer spends in the first 24 hours after clicking your link.
So if someone spends $200 on Amazon after clicking your link, you’ll earn about $10 in commissions.
However, Wealthy Affiliate has an average earnings per customer of $100+.
That just goes to show how great the program is that most people stay in for more than 4 months.
What Have I Learnt After 5 Years?
After 5 years of doing affiliate marketing and implementing the training at Wealthy Affiliate, the biggest thing I have learnt is that low-competition keywords matter, a LOT.
I tried to tackle competitive keywords and thought maybe after a couple of years I’ll start to gain traction.
Well that didn’t happen, my website is still struggling to rank. I’m still earning from that blog though since it ranked some low-competition keywords.
But just like my very first blog and the one you’re on now, I targeted keywords no one else is targeting and I gained traffic incredibly fast.
Another thing I learnt is that you need to be consistent. I can’t stress this enough.
Mo’ articles = mo’ exposure = mo’ traffic = mo’ money.
Someone with 500 articles will make more money than someone with 100 articles. It’s a simple numbers game.
But that also doesn’t mean publish low quality, thin content. It needs to be good quality that helps the reader.
What Others Say
There’s people on the forums section everyday talking about how they made their first sale, or that they made their first $100 day.
As long as you do the work and stay consistent, you’ll eventually see the fruits of your labor. Most people quit before they see their first money made which is about 3 – 6 months (as long as you target easy keywords).
What I Like
There are so many things I love about Wealthy Affiliate but my favorite is that the training is so simple to follow.
When I started out, Kyle explained everything in detail. Being a complete newbie I thought I was going to fail.
I actually started a blog and had content on it in the first day.
Another thing I like is that you can contact Kyle and Carson and get a response within 24 – 48 hours.
I mean, where else can you literally talk to real millionaires from the comfort of your own home?
You also have instant support from the community, people that are making 4-5 figures per month can answer your questions and concerns within 10 minutes.
This is one of the biggest things that makes Wealthy Affiliate one of the best affiliate training platforms out there.
Their support is unmatched.
Anyone can create simple training, but no one can offer you experts in the industry within minutes.
Are There Upsells or Hidden Fees?
They have a free trial which gives you access to 10 training videos and 2 websites.
You can continue creating your websites with the free version or you can upgrade.
You can make money with the free starter kit but you won’t get access to the rest of the training.
If you sign up within the first 7 days you get access to EVERYTHING for a special offer of $19.
After that it goes to the original price.
So no there are no upsells or hidden fees. All there is is starter, premium membership and premium plus.
However, you also have the option to go yearly which makes it cheaper even more.
You do not need the premium plus or the yearly, starter or premium is more than enough to make money.
Heck, I’m still on premium even after 5 years.
Free trial ($0) – Gives you 10 free training videos, 2 websites, 1-on-1 coaching, live help, access to the WA affiliate program, and much more. This goes indefinitely so you do not need to upgrade if you don’t want to.
Premium ($49/month) – The premium membership gives you access to everything you need to create a successful online business. Here’s a breakdown of the Premium VS Starter membership.
My Final Opinion
I’ve been a member of Wealthy Affiliate for 5 years and in that time I have achieved much success.
WA was able to offer the freedom that I’ve been wanting all my life, the ability to work on my own terms and not have to work for a boss.
It’s not easy, it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme, but it is simple.
The concept is simple. Simply write content, wait for it to rank, and make money.
The hard part is staying consistent until you see results.
Well that’s enough for this review.
Please know that I am waiting on the other side and ready to help you start your online business.
PS: BONUS! Simply setup your profile upon signing up (name, profile pic, description, etc) and I’ll personally coach you and help you avoid some of the mistakes I made.
Also if you become a premium member within the first 7 days, I’ll check out your website, your niche, and your content to make sure you’re on the right track.
Because I want YOU to make money as quickly as possible.
See you on the other side.
